Plague Mask is from my range of 'Large Original Artworks' that are available framed for collection or can be posted unframed in a tube to prevent damage.


Doctors treating victims of the Bubonic plague wore a strange uniform that included a mask. The mask was filled with herbs and spices in the belief that if would offer some protection. It made them look a bit like a bird and that is the idea behind this image.

  • The image is created by hand on my etching press and then painted with watercolours and pastels. I create a number of versions from each plate but each one is unique.
