Candle (Hand Printed and signed by the artist, 5 x 7 inches )
The Irish tradition of placing a candle in the window as a sign on welcome on Christmas Eve is still practiced. This window is a the back of a house in University St, Belfast. It's sole purpose is to make the back of a row of houses look like the front as they face out on to a main road. The window has no glass and there is no room behind it. I've always though that there is something a bit sad and lonely about this and it reminds me of the lifeless windows found in old derelict cottages. So this candle is to welcome those who are gone.
This card is actually an original artwork, created and signed by the artist. It is a hand printed linocut and has also been hand coloured. It's unusual enough to receive a card in the post nowadays and especially one that has been hand made. Hopefully the card and your message will end up in a little frame and be treasured for a very long time.
