When we first moved to our house in the Belfast Hills we were given a box of hens as a moving in present. We then got a rooster to keep them company. He would crow at first light and wake everyone in the house as well as our neighbor's rooster and everyone on their house. I still keep hens but haven't kept a rooster in years.
